HISTORY

Joseph was born into the world with his twin sister Rachel in Barrie, Ontario to an average set of parents. Being twins their parent decided to dress them in symmetry. Other than this their childhood was perfectly normal.

After seeing hordes of martial arts flick on TV the twins develop an interests in them. With this the twins ask to take martial arts and their parents agree and Joseph is enrolled in to a karate class while his is enrolled into judo. After about 5 or 6 years of taking karate and having excelled that he was now one belt away from black Joe wanted something more challenging and finds Jeet Kune Do to which he sees is more challenging and enters into classes that are taught for it while still attending his karate class so within a year he gets his black belt in karate. A few for years go by and gets up to his green belt. Shortly after receiving his green belt he meets an old man who is a Samurai master who sees potential in him and asks him if he is interested in becoming his student. At this opportunity Joe jumps for it.

By this time he had gotten himself a security job to support himself and pay for his fighting studies and is about 22 years old. A little bit after he reaches the age of 25 the Samurai master tells him that he has trained him as far as he can here and that if he wishes to finish his training he must accompany him back to Japan and that the choice is his. With this Joe says to give him two weeks to decided and if so to arrange transportation to Japan. The Samurai master promptly tells he can arrange and pay for transportation and that he can pay him back over time and would this make his decision easier? Joe replies with an immediate yes, let’s do it.

Over the next four years Joe trains harder than he thought he could. Also about this time he took up weight training. By the time he’s paid back the money he owed the Samurai master.

One morning after meditating all night in the village dojo at about 5:30am he gets a vision. In it he sees his sister as an adult and she is committing an act of senseless murder. Upon witnessing this shocking scene he leaves to find his sister and confronts her harshly. She gives him little reaction as killing has become a part of her life. To try and make his sister see the error of her ways Joseph joins the Clan just so he can try to convince her to leave. Finally she gives into him on the one condition that they would go into business for themselves and being robbing places by themselves exclaiming they would be a dynamic duo of thieves. He agreed as to just get her out this Clan. At this they started making hits all their own in exchange making enemies of their former clan members. Joseph keeps the codename Black Bat that the clan gave him however he and his sister come up with entirely new outfits.

POWERS AND SKILLS

Black Bat has no metahuman powers. On the other hand his training in karate, Jeet Kune Do, the way of the Samurai and boxing makes him.
